Top secrets of Surah Al-Baqarah

Definition of Surat Al-Baqarah:

It is the second surah in the order of the surahs of the Noble Qur’an, and it comes after Surah Al-Fatihah. Surat Al-Baqarah is one of the Surahs that were revealed in Al-Madinah. It is considered one of the longest Surahs. Rather, it is the longest Surah in the Holy Qur’an at all.

The verses of Surah Al-Baqarah mention many provisions of Islamic legislation.

It also deals with the set of Islamic laws and regulations, which regulate the laws of the Islamic community. The number of verses of Surah Al-Baqarah is two hundred and eighty-six verses.

It is also the first surah that was revealed to the Messenger of God – PBUH – in Medina, where its revelation began immediately after the Hijrah, and the last verse of it ended ten years after the Hijrah.

Surat Al-Baqarah began with the interrupted letters, where God Almighty said at the beginning of the surah:

﴿الم﴾ [البقرة: ١]

(1) Alif, Lām, Meem.[7]

[7]- These are among the fourteen opening letters which occur in various combinations at the beginning of twenty-nine sūrahs in the Qur’ān. Although there has been much speculation as to their meaning, it was not, in fact, revealed by Allāh to anyone and is known only to Him.

In it, the word “Allah” was mentioned more than a hundred times. And it includes the longest verse in the Holy Qur’an, which is the debt verse and its number is two hundred and eighty-two.

Reason for naming Surah Al-Baqarah:

Surah Al-Baqarah was called by this name as it mentions the miracle of “Al-Baqarah”/the cow. It is one of the amazing and brilliant miracles, which appeared during the time of the prophecy of Moses – PBUH-. One of the children of Israel was killed, and his killer was not known. So the matter was presented to our Prophet Moses – PBUH -, so that he might know the killer by inspiration from God – SWT.

And God Almighty revealed to Moses – PBUH – to order the Children of Israel to slaughter the cow.

After that, they hit the dead with one of the parts of the cow, so life comes back to him by order of God Almighty, and he tells them about the person who killed him.

This was a miracle and an indication of the power of God Almighty, who revives people after their death.

Surat Al-Baqarah is also called “Fustat Al Qur’an,” meaning the tent of the Qur’an. The Prophet – PBUH – called it Surat Al-Imran (Al-Zahraween).

The virtue of reciting Surah Al-Baqarah

Several virtues are mentioned in reciting Surat Al-Baqarah, some of which will be mentioned as follows:

-It was mentioned in the authentic hadith on the authority of the Messenger of God that whoever recites the last two verses of Surah Al-Baqarah, that will suffice him.

وعن أبي مسعود البدري رضي الله عنه عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قال ‏: ‏‏ “‏ من قرأ بالآيتين من آخر سورة البقرة في ليلة كفتاه ‏”‏ ‏(‏‏(‏متفق عليه‏)‏‏)‏‏.‏

Abu Mas’ud Al-Badri (MABPWH) reported:

I heard the Prophet (ﷺ) saying, “He who recites the two Ayat at the end of Surat Al-Baqarah at night, they will suffice him.” [Al- Bukhari and Muslim].

-The Messenger – PBUH – told that Satan flees from the houses in which Surat Al-Baqarah is recited. Surah Al-Baqara expels Satan from the house.

–Surat Al-Baqarah includes a verse that is the greatest verse in the Holy Qur’an, and it has great merit, which is the verse “Al-Kursi”.

Whoever recites Ayat al-Kursi before going to sleep, Satan never approaches him until morning.Also, reciting Ayat al-Kursi after every obligatory prayer is a reason for entering Paradise.

–Surat Al-Baqarah is the protective surah, which suffices the one who recites it, protects the muslim from the demons of the jinn and men, and nullifies the effect of magic, the evil eye and envy.

-Reciting Surah Al-Baqarah is a blessing, and leaving it is a regret
